Our weekend started off with a nice meal at home, on Friday night, and a good bottle of champagne to accompany it...
We slept late on Saturday morning as it was a rough week at work for Sean and needed to catch up on some sleep! After brunch at home we set off to shop for a dining room table. After searching through a few shops we finally found one that suited our needs - and would fit in our car! So off we went home to unload it. When we got back to the apartment after the last trip from the car - the apartment door would not unlock! So there we were stuck outside our apartment with boxes and no way to get inside... A locksmith had to be called to help get us into our apartment. As the locksmith was only available to be there in half an hour, we decided to go do some grocery shopping while we waited. When we got home, the locksmith opened the door and we were in. Whilst unpacking the groceries I realised that there were some missing... I had left a packet of groceries at the supermarket! So back I had to go to get them... And yes they were still there - kept at information!
By this time it was 7:30pm and none of us was in the mood to cook - so ribs and pizza for supper it was!
We woke up on Sunday morning, had a quick cup of coffee and then went for a 2 hour bike ride along the bay esplanade. There is a bike path all along the esplanade which is very scenic.
Had lunch back home and then started to assemble the dining room tables and chairs.
I prepared a lamb roast and put it in the oven. By early evening we were able to eat lamb roast at our new dining room table - with a good bottle of wine - what bliss!
Looking forward to the week and especially not having to sit on the floor at the coffee table to eat dinner!!

CITY CIRCLE TRAM
The city circle tram is a free tram that does a circle of the main areas and attractions of the city. For transportation I have been using this tram often.
Inside the tram there is a announcement system which tells you about all the sights on the route and where to get off to see specific attractions. It is very informative for tourists. If the trams announcement system is not working there is a person from the tram company on the tram telling everyone what the attractions are - and you can also ask them questions if you want to.
Since we have moved to Port Melbourne I have been using the car more often as it is quick to drop Sean off at work and to pick him up. At first I was a little scared about driving as there is lots of traffic, but I'm fine now - as long as I have the GPS!

A NEW LANGUAGE ??
During my time in Melbourne I have heard a few strange words and learnt a few words of the way the Australians talk here. A lot of the time they tend to shorten their words. Below are a few I have picked up on so far:
Brekkie - breakfast
Sanga - Sandwhich
Parma - Parmagiana (a chicken schnitzel)
Chook - chicken
Doona - duvet
Pot - 285ml beer

HUNTING FOR A NEW HOME...
Who would have thought it would be so difficult to find a new home for us to stay in for the next year... This task proved to be frustrating, time-consuming and tiresome! (Hence the reason for not blogging!) After driving around days on end looking at places and not finding anything remotely suitable - one starts to get very despondent... We had to find a place that would fit in all our furniture - which is not easy when you are wanting to live in the city suburbs as apartments are really small. Most places we looked at did not have a full kitchen - and as you know Sean and I both enjoy cooking so these places would not have worked as there was just not enough counter space to prepare food...
The way in which you see apartments in Melbourne is that the apartment is "open for inspection" with a leasing agent at a certain time on a certain day and only for 15 minutes - miss this time and its gone!
Finally after weeks of searching through about 40 apartments - we found a lovely apartment in a lovely location! It is in the suburb called Port Melbourne which is the suburb close to the bay. Shops and restaurants are a few meters away from our apartment and the bay is just down the road. There is a lovely path along the bay where one can walk, so we are planning to start running along this route soon.
Our apartment is also close to Seans work - about 4km. So Sean can ride his bicycle to work or run to work if he feels like it.
We have moved into the apartment with rented furniture for now, but our container arrives on Monday so we cannot wait to get settled with our own belongings around us!
Looking forward to living in this apartment for the next year! Will post photos soon.
